History
1932 in Steyr geboren, in Garsten aufgewachsen. Sohn eines Haupt- und Berufsschullehrers, später Hauptschuldirektor in Garsten. Der Vater war außerdem NSDAP-Mitglied. Besuchte das Realgymnasium in Steyr, danach die Lehrerbildungsanstalt in Linz, wo er 1952 maturierte. Legte die Lehramtsprüfungen für Deutsch, Englisch und Biologie und Umweltkunde mit Gesamtauszeichnung ab.
