Eine Herrschaft ohne Schloss, der zinspflichtige Bauern angehören. Der Name stammt von der Steyrer Adelsfamilie Scheck (Freihaus in der Berggasse). Laut Annales Styrenses fol. 263 hat der letzte Inhaber des Scheckenamtes, Hans Fuxberger (gest. 1540) das Scheckenamt der Gemeinen Stadt Steyr vermacht. Als Bedingung stellte er, dass vom Einkommen des Scheckenamtes jährlich zwei eheliche Bürgerstöchter mit je 12 Gulden Heiratsgut ausgestattet werden.
