Lt. Erlefried Krobath (Die Bürgermeister der Stadt Steyr und ihre Zeit (10. Fortsetzung). Thomas Schoiber (1722-1733), in: Veröffentlichungen des Kulturamtes Dez. 1966, S. 7-8.) wurden viele wichtige Dokumente im Brand von 1727 zerstört, darunter auch die Urkunden der Handwerkszünfte. Diese verlangten vom Magistrat Neuausfertigungen.
